Serial Domestic Abuser Pleas Guilty to Stalking, Retaliation

A convicted repeat domestic abuser admitted stalking and engaging in retaliation against his victim from behind bars.

Kody L. Crosby, age 31, currently serving prison time in the Belmont Correctional Institution for abduction, domestic violence, and witness intimidation, appeared on February 28 before Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark C. Fleegle to plead guilty to the charges against him.

Crosby was previously found guilty of committing domestic violence against a pregnant woman in 2017 and served one year in prison. Later, in September 2022, Crosby physically assaulted the victim, causing her to fall to the ground during an argument.

Beginning in May 2023, Crosby repeatedly called the victim from prison, sent mail to her, and enlisted individuals to vandalize her vehicle.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney John Litle says Crosby is the victim of his own bad decisions over the years.

“The only thing Mr. Crosby needs to do in order to leave this cycle of prison and move on with his life is stop tormenting his victim,” Litle said. “In the case of many domestic abusers, their situation transforms into some kind of need to ‘win’ or to be shown to be the person in charge. This cycle has resulted in a more than a half-decade of Crosby’s life going down the tubes, when all he had to do was walk away.”
