Michael Hughes is an experienced Assistant Prosecuting Attorney with a demonstrated and lengthy history of trying criminal cases.

After graduating from Saint Charles Preparatory School, Michael Hughes attended Ohio Dominican University and obtained a double major in Criminal Justice and Political Science.

He graduated from Capital University Law School and began working at the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. At the Prosecutor’s Office, he worked with juvenile delinquents and handled cases involving the removal of children from unfit parents.

Michael prosecuted hundreds of juvenile delinquency cases before moving to adult court in Franklin County. He continued to develop his skills within the office’s Grand Jury Unit, where he worked closely with law enforcement agencies to prepare cases for indictment.

Michael oversaw check, fraud, and forgery cases with the Grand Jury Unit. He then moved to work with the Narcotics Division, exclusively handling and prosecuting drug-related crimes.

Having shown his skill as a prosecutor, Michael was selected to join the Special Victims Unit (SVU). SVU is a specialized unit handling cases involving sexual and physical violence. Michael was a member of this unit for three years. During that time, Michael prosecuted hundreds of criminals who abused women and children.

Michael joined the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office in 2020 as an assistant prosecuting attorney assigned to the Felony Division. Michael prosecutes all kinds of felonies but focuses on special victims.
