Additional Victim Discloses Abuse, Serial Child Rapist Sentenced To An Additional 15 Years

(ZANESVILLE, OH)

On March 27, 2026, Robert M. Marshall, 43, appeared in the Muskingum Court of Common Pleas to plead guilty and be sentenced for charges that stem from a child rape case.

Marshall admitted guilt to the following charges: Rape, Gross Sexual Imposition, and Intimidation, all felonies. The victim was a minor at the time of the offenses.

Marshall is currently incarcerated at Noble Institutional Correctional Institution for a separate child rape case involving two different victims. In April of 2025, Marshall was sentenced to twenty-two (22) years in prison.

Judge Kelly Cottrill sentenced Marshall to a jointly recommended sentence of an additional fifteen (15) years in prison to be served consecutively the 22-year prison sentence he was currently serving. The consecutive sentence means Marshall will serve a minimum of 33 years of mandatory prison out of a thirty (37) year sentence and could serve as much as 42 ½ years total in prison.

Upon the expiration of his prison term Marshall is also required to register as a Tier 3 Sex Offender. As a Tier 3 Sex Offender he will have to register with the Sheriff’s Office every ninety (90) days for the rest of his life.

Message from our Office:

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual abuse, or you suspect abuse may be occurring, do not delay reporting it. In many child sexual abuse cases, offenders use intimidation and threats to keep victims silent. This manipulation can make it extremely difficult for children to come forward on their own, which is why reporting suspected abuse is so important.
