Assistant Prosecutor John Litle Named Ohio’s Meritorious Assistant Prosecutor of the Year
Muskingum County Prosecutor Ron Welch is proud to announce that Assistant Prosecutor John Litle has been selected as the recipient of the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association Meritorious Assistant Prosecutor of the Year Award. This prestigious honor recognizes one assistant prosecutor from across all 88 counties in Ohio whose work demonstrates exceptional performance, dedication to public service, and significant contributions to the administration of justice.
The award is presented annually by the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association to an assistant prosecuting attorney who exemplifies superior trial advocacy, strong legal skills, sound professional judgment, commitment to the mission of justice, and unwavering service to victims and the community. Recipients are recognized for meaningful accomplishments that reflect the highest ideals of the profession and elevate the work of prosecutor offices throughout the state.
In 2025, Assistant Prosecutor Litle distinguished himself through exceptional results in some of Muskingum County’s most serious, complex, and high impact cases. His leadership, preparation, and courtroom advocacy led to powerful outcomes that protected the public, honored victims, and reinforced community safety.
Throughout the year, Litle strengthened the prosecution of domestic violence and sexual abuse cases. His detailed preparation and victim centered approach have ensured that survivors are heard and that offenders face meaningful consequences for their actions.
Finally, Litle’s relentless pursuit of drug dealers has resulted in hundreds of years in prison for some of Muskingum County’s most notorious criminals. His efforts have removed poison peddlers from our community and undoubtedly saved lives.
Muskingum County Prosecutor Ron Welch praised Litle’s statewide recognition, noting that this award reflects not only his exceptional courtroom success but also his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the community. Welch stated that Litle does far more than obtain convictions. He achieves sentences that remove dangerous offenders from the community, prevent future harm, and demonstrates a steadfast dedication to public protection.
