Caldwell Man Gets Jail Time for Sex Crimes

In Muskingum County Common Pleas Court, a 45-year-old man from Caldwell was sentenced to time in prison for sex crimes against a minor.

Michael L. Morrow, 45, of Caldwell, appeared before Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Kelly Cottrill for sentencing on January 29.

Morrow was sentenced to five years in prison for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Morrow was found guilty of the charges on January 22, changing his initial “not guilty” plea and agreeing to the charges against him before his trial was set to begin. This sentence is in addition to a three-year sentence Morrow is serving for having a weapon while under disability. As a result, Morrow is serving a total of eight years for his crimes.

Muskingum County Prosecuting Attorney Ron Welch says serving justice for Morrow’s victim was a team effort.

“Michael Morrow will serve a significant amount of time in prison for manipulating a child into sexual activity. This outcome is the result of numerous people taking exactly the correct action to assure the child victim was protected. The school staff, the school resource officer, Muskingum County Children's Services, Zanesville Police Department, and our office all worked together to achieve a just outcome that satisfied the victim without exposing her to any additional trauma associated with a trial.”
