Columbus Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 13½ to 17½ Years in Prison in Muskingum County
Repeat Offender Operated Two Drug Houses; On Probation for Violent Crimes
ZANESVILLE, OHIO – A Columbus gang member with an extensive criminal history, including aggravated robbery and firearm offenses, was sentenced to 13½ to 17½ years in prison after a Muskingum County jury convicted him of trafficking and possessing methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl.
Vintrel Cloud, 26, appeared before Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Gerald Anderson for sentencing following his September jury trial.
The jury found Cloud guilty of multiple drug trafficking and possession offenses, along with possession of criminal tools for using a cell phone to conduct drug transactions.
At sentencing, prosecutors presented evidence demonstrating that Cloud's activities went far beyond personal drug use.
EVIDENCE REVEALED TWO DRUG HOUSES AND DETAILED TRAFFICKING RECORDS
Evidence presented during trial established that Cloud operated two separate drug houses in Columbus.
Investigators recovered communications documenting his drug-trafficking activities, including records identifying customers who owed him money, the amount of drugs he had available for sale, and the individuals supplying his inventory.
Those records demonstrated an ongoing drug distribution operation involving multiple controlled substances, including fentanyl.
Cloud's attorney argued that his client suffered from drug addiction, while supporters cited mental health issues related to his previous incarceration. The defense requested a five-year prison sentence.
Judge Anderson considered those arguments but also reviewed Cloud's extensive criminal history and the evidence establishing his trafficking operation.
EXTENSIVE CRIMINAL HISTORY AND CONTINUED OFFENSES
Cloud's prior criminal record in Franklin County included aggravated robbery with firearm specifications, burglary, aggravated assault involving a firearm, weapons offenses, and other criminal conduct.
In June 2026, Franklin County Judge Chris Brown placed Cloud on community control for aggravated assault with a firearm and having weapons under disability.
At that time, Cloud already had an outstanding warrant in the Muskingum County drug case.
Despite his prior violent offenses and repeated involvement with the criminal justice system, Cloud continued to engage in criminal activity.
Assistant Prosecutors John Litle and Jahan Karamali prosecuted the case and requested the maximum consecutive prison sentence.
Judge Anderson concluded that Cloud's criminal history demonstrated a lack of interest in rehabilitation and imposed the maximum sentence permitted by law.
Cloud received an indefinite prison sentence of 13½ to 17½ years, was ordered to forfeit money possessed during the offenses, and was assessed a mandatory $12,500 fine.
“Vintrel Cloud was a serious, violent danger to any community in which he might be found, and thanks to Judge Anderson's sentence, all Ohio communities will be safe from Cloud for the foreseeable future,” Assistant Prosecutor John Litle said.
“The revolving door of justice for Vintrel Cloud stopped the day he set foot in Muskingum County.”
The Muskingum County Prosecutor's Office remains committed to pursuing substantial prison sentences for repeat offenders who traffic dangerous drugs and continue committing crimes despite previous opportunities for rehabilitation.
