Dae Shawn Horton Convicted for Brutally Beating a Woman
Zanesville, OH – On July 23, 2025, Dae Shawn Horton, age 28, pleaded guilty to two separate charges that stem from Horton brutally attacking a woman in her home.
The charges Horton plead guilty to include Aggravated Burglary and Felonious Assault, felonies of the first and second degree.
Case Details:
On March 8, 2025, at approximately 5am, Dae Shawn Horton broke into a woman’s home and entered her bedroom. After entering her bedroom, the defendant attacked his sleeping victim.
After ripping the victim from her bed Horton continued his attack by hitting the victim in the face with a cell phone. Law enforcement observed serious injuries on the victim’s face and neck alongside a horrifically swollen, black and blue right eye. The white of the victim’s eye was completely filled with blood from being hit with the phone.
This is not the first time Horton has chosen to assault a woman.
Horton was previously convicted in Zanesville Municipal Court for Domestic Violence in 2016 and twice in 2018. In 2018 he was also convicted of violating a protection order.
More recently, Horton served a prison sentence of three years as a result of a 2022 Domestic Violence conviction.
Sentencing will be held at a later date.
