Defendant Admits Guilt to Zanesville Apartment Burglary

On February 23, 2026, Trevor Miller, 43, appeared in the Muskingum Court of Common Pleas to admit guilt to charges that stem from Miller breaking into an apartment.

Miller appeared before Judge Kelly Cottrill and admitted guilt to all charges on the indictment including:

1. Burglary, F2

2. Possessing Criminal Tools, F5

3. Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, F4

4. Attempted Burglary, F3

5. Tampering with Evidence, F3

Miller was arrested at a local establishment when he had an active warrant on this case. During the arrest, he was found to be carrying firearms illegally. He was charged in a separate case for Having Weapons While Under Disability. Sentencing for both cases is pending.

Details of the Case:

In July of 2025, security footage shows Miller breaking into an individual’s apartment. He walks to and from the front door of the apartment, knocking, and yelling out. Miller then begins kicking the door and then uses a shovel to gain entry. He then leaves the apartment carrying items from the apartment on his way out.

Miller returns later in the day and breaks into the apartment again, this time using a piece of lumber and then a rake. After noticing the security camera, he then takes the rake and moves the camera upward and out of visual range.

In his interview Miller admitted to detectives that he also stole the victim’s car to “mess with him”. Miller reported not knowing what happened to the vehicle after he left it a few blocks away from the apartment.

The vehicle was located behind a building and under a tarp.
