Dresden Man Receives Maximum Sentence After Driving Drunk and Injuring 18-Year-Old Driver
June 23, 2025, Slade Daniels, 24, of Dresden, OH, appeared before Judge Gerald Anderson to receive sentencing for charges related to Daniels causing a car crash after driving intoxicated. The crash resulted in injuries to an eighteen-year-old girl.
Charges against Daniels include Vehicular Assault, a felony of the fourth degree and OVI (operating a vehicle under the influence).
This is Daniels’s third OVI offense.
Judge Anderson imposed the maximum penalty; 18 months in prison. Daniel’s driver’s license will also be suspended for a period of three years and will be on post release control for up to two years after his release from prison.
Case Details:
On December 6, 2024, the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived on SR 60 near mile post 23 in Muskingum Township in response to a two-vehicle crash.
The two vehicles damaged were a Volkswagen Beetle and a gray Volvo. According to reports the patrol officer determined that based on roadway evidence and witness statements the Volkswagen had been travelling southbound on SR 60 while the Volvo had been travelling northbound on SR 60; the Volvo crossed the center painted line striking the Volkswagen.
The driver of the Volvo was identified as Slade Daniels. Daniels was observed to have blood shot and glassy eyes, and the odor of alcohol was present.
At the scene Daniels informed a Sergeant that he was drunk and shouldn’t have been in the car. An inventory of Daniels’s Volvo included several alcoholic beverages.
The victim reported that she noted Daniels swerving on the road. Daniels hit her before she had a chance to react. The victim could not recall any further details as she lost consciousness.
