Prison Time Handed Down for Domestic Violence

ZANESVILLE, OH -

Levi Lassen, 32, of Zanesville, appeared in the Muskingum Court of Common Pleas to be sentenced for a third-degree felony level domestic violence charge.

Lassen’s criminal history includes a 2018 conviction for Domestic Violence and Abduction.

Lassen appeared before Judge Kelly Cottrill and was sentenced to three (3) years in prison, the maximum sentence.

Details of the Case:

On October 18, 2025, Levi Lassen was sitting in the passenger seat of his victim’s car. While driving, the victim received several text messages, angering Lassen.

The victim pulled the car to a stop and exited the vehicle in an attempt to get Lassen to calm down. The victim then got back into the car and began driving Lassen to his friend’s house. While the victim was driving the defendant to his friend’s house, the defendant grabbed the victim’s cell phone from her. When the victim tried to get the phone back, Lassen strangled her with both hands.

As she was being strangled the victim’s foot came off the brake, causing the car to roll forward towards Linden Ave. Once the victim was able to get the vehicle to stop Lassen grabbed the knob of the shifter and ripped it off.

The victim ran from the vehicle as she was calling 911. Lassen chased after her. As Zanesville Police arrived on scene the victim ran to the patrol car for safety as she was still being chased by the defendant.

Lassen was arrested on the scene and immediately taken to jail.
