PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE SUPPORTS TRANSITIONS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER AT ANNUAL GOLF OUTING

ZANESVILLE, OH — Members of the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office recently participated in the annual golf outing benefiting Transitions, our community’s domestic violence shelter and an important resource for victims and families seeking safety from domestic violence.

The event brought together community members, businesses, organizations, and public officials in support of Transitions and the critical services it provides to victims and their children.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kallen Haddox was instrumental in the planning and execution of this year’s event, helping organize an outing that brought together participants and sponsors from throughout the community in support of Transitions and its mission.

The Prosecutor’s Office also recognizes Green Valley Golf Course, which hosted the outing for the third consecutive year. Its continued support has provided a setting where the community can come together each year to support Transitions and the victims and families it serves.

Muskingum County Prosecutor Ron Welch also sponsored the event as part of his continued support for organizations providing assistance to victims of crime.

Welch’s experience prosecuting domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and other crimes against women and children has reinforced the importance of providing victims with support both inside and outside the criminal justice system.

“Protecting victims doesn’t begin and end in a courtroom,” Welch said. “Organizations like Transitions provide help at a time when victims and their children may be frightened, vulnerable, and unsure where to turn.”

“Prosecutors and law enforcement have an important role, but making our community safer requires the involvement of the entire community. When businesses, organizations, and individuals support programs like Transitions, they are helping victims find safety and begin rebuilding their lives.”

The support shown at this year’s outing also sends a broader message to victims of domestic violence.

“Victims need to know they are not alone,” Welch said. “There are people throughout this community willing to stand beside them. That kind of community involvement helps victims, strengthens families, and makes Muskingum County a safer place for everyone.”

The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office recognizes Transitions for the important work it performs every day and appreciates the businesses, sponsors, participants, organizers, and Green Valley Golf Course for helping make this year’s event a success.
