Prosecutor Welch Highlights How Citizens Can Help Fight Human Trafficking

Muskingum County Prosecuting Attorney Ron Welch recently spoke with a local news reporter about the office’s fight against human trafficking in the county, and how everyday people can help protect the vulnerable from abuse and exploitation.

Prosecutor Welch was interviewed by WHIZ-TV reporter Mary Behanna for a news segment airing on January 20. Behanna and Welch discussed what human trafficking is, what the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office is doing to serve justice, and how everyday people can help.

Prosecutor Welch says educating the public about the signs of human trafficking plays a vital role in combatting the problem and serving justice.

“The Office uses education, prevention, and prosecution as a way of combatting human trafficking,” Prosecutor Welch said. “Education is the best way citizens can assist in preventing human trafficking. Learning the signs to look for and having the courage to report something when they have suspicions a trafficking situation is possible.”
