Rapist Receives 20 Years in Prison
This week, Nicholas E Logan, 19, of Zanesville, appeared in the Muskingum Court of Common Pleas to be sentenced for charges that stem from Logan corrupting and raping a 13-year-old child.
Logan has a history of violent juvenile delinquencies.
Logan appeared before Judge Kelly Cottrill and was sentenced on the following charges: Strangulation, Two counts of Rape, Corrupting Another with Drugs, Felonious Assault, Intimidation and Pandering Sexually Oriented Matter Involving a Minor.
At the hearing Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Michael Hughes requested 29 ½ years. After hearing from the State and the Defense, Judge Cottrill sentenced Logan to 20 years in prison. In addition to his prison sentence Logan is also required to register as a Tier 3 sex offender. As a Tier 3 sex offender Logan must register every 90 days for the remainder of his life.
Details of the Case:
In August of 2025 a concerned adult contacted the Zanesville Police and reported that Nicholas Logan was sexually assaulting a 13-year-old female.
Investigations into the report confirmed the sexual abuse allegations against Logan. Through forensic interviews and further investigation Zanesville Police Detectives discovered Logan forcibly raped the child. She also reported that she had been the victim of strangulation until passing out. In addition, Logan also provided her with alcohol and marijuana and ultimately tattooed the victim’s body with the number 4:20.
When adults learned what had happened to the victim, they immediately reported the crimes to the authorities.
“The immediate reporting of the crimes against this child and the determined work of the Zanesville Police Department, resulted in significant convictions and a lengthy prison sentence,” said Prosecutor Ron Welch.
