Sexual Offender Failed to Register, Sentenced 15.5 Years in Prison After Trial

Summary: In 2016 a Chandlersville man was convicted of Rape. In September of this year a Jury convened and convicted Todd Kopchak for failure to register as a sexual offender and failure to provide notice of change of address as a sexual offender, both felonies of the first degree.

On November 12, 2025, Todd Kopchak, 40, appeared in the Muskingum County Court of Common Pleas before Judge Anderson to receive sentencing for his most recent convictions.

At the hearing, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney John Litle, who handled the case, requested a prison sentence of 11 years, plus an additional 4.5 years for violating his post-release control.

In 2016 when Kopchak was convicted of rape, he refused to accept responsibility and forced his victim to testify about the multiple rapes that Kopchak inflicted. While incarcerated he failed continuously to comply with rules, receiving 40 prison infractions.

When released in 2023 after serving an eight (8) year prison sentence for Rape, Kopchak continued to not comply with court sanctions and rules by not registering as a sexual offender and failing to provide notice of change of address as a sexual offender.

While incarcerated for his most recent conviction Kopchak committed new felonies of violating a protection order.

Litle argued that Kopchak is a violent sexual criminal who has been totally unaffected by previous sanctions. Therefore, no factors indicate that the defendant is unlikely to commit future crime.

After hearing from the State, the defense, and the defendant himself Judge Anderson sentenced Kopchak to the maximum sentence, which was 15.5 years in prison.

“Kopchak has twice been found guilty of sex crimes, and he’s demonstrated that he remains a danger if he is loose in the community,” according to Litle. “Judge Anderson solved that danger today.”
