Zanesville Domestic Abuser Gets Prison Sentence

A Zanesville man pled guilty to charges of domestic violence in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court.

On May 29, Kadin L. Brown, age 26, of Zanesville, appeared in Muskingum County Court of Common Pleas to plead guilty to charges of felony domestic violence. Judge Kelly Cottrill sentenced Brown to the maximum sentence of 18 months in prison.

Brown was previously convicted of domestic violence in 2021.

On March 16, law enforcement officers responded to a report of a domestic incident. The caller reported receiving a phone call from the victim, during which the victim could be heard saying “get off of me” and “you’re choking me.”

The victim, Brown’s then girlfriend, was eight weeks pregnant with Brown’s child.

Brown was later located and arrested by law enforcement.

Muskingum County Prosecuting Attorney Ron Welch says there is no place for domestic violence in our community.

“Domestic violence is unacceptable in every way,” Prosecutor Welch said. “Abusers lack self-control and choose to attack victims they know are weaker. Domestic abuse is truly a cowardly act.”
