James Hughes
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

Originally from Colorado, James earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University in 2010, followed by his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in 2013.
He began his legal career with internships at the Office of Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien and Diversified Healthcare, gaining valuable experience in both public and private sector law. In 2015, James joined Manley, Deas & Kochalski LLC, where he served as a team lead, overseeing casework in a high-volume environment.
In 2024, James returned to public service as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney with the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office where he oversees Abuse, Neglect, and Dependency cases within the Juvenile Division.
